Practice your decks offline
With Premium, download decks to your device and play them without an internet connection - your answers sync when you're back online.
On a plane, on the underground, or anywhere your connection drops, you can keep practicing. Offline decks are part of Yalango Premium.
Download a deck
- While you're online, open the deck from My Library.
- Choose Download for offline next to the Play button.
- Wait for the cards and their audio to finish saving. The button changes to Saved offline.
You can download your own decks and any public deck. Multilingual decks can't be downloaded yet.
A downloaded deck is a copy from the moment you saved it. If you add or edit cards later, choose Update on the deck to download the latest version.
Play without a connection
Open yalango.com/offline - or just open Yalango while you're offline and you'll land there. You'll see every deck you downloaded on that device. Choose Play and pick a game.
These games work offline: Mix, Flashcards, Quiz, Write, Cloze, Audio, Memory and Hangman. Hanzi and Drive need a connection, so they're hidden while you're offline, and Mix leaves them out.
Tip: install Yalango on your phone or computer (in your browser's menu, choose Install app or Add to Home Screen) so it opens like an app when you're offline.
What happens to your answers
Your answers are saved on your device and sent to Yalango the next time you open it with a connection - even if you closed the app in between. They then count towards your statistics, stars and spaced repetition just like answers given online, on the day you actually practiced.
The offline page shows whether you're offline, syncing, or fully synced.
Good to know
- Downloads are stored per device and per browser. Download the deck again on each device you want to use offline.
- To free up space, choose the bin icon next to a deck on the offline page or on the deck itself.
- If an audio clip couldn't be saved, the deck still plays - that clip just needs a connection.
- If your Premium subscription ends, your downloads stay on the device, but you'll need to renew to play them again once you're online.
