What are Yalango Stars?
Stars measure your studying and your contributions to the community - earned from practice, reading, focus sessions, streaks, sharing decks and helping on the forums.
Stars measure what you put into Yalango - how much you study, what you share with other learners and how consistently you show up.

Sharing content

Ordinary posts are capped at 500 stars per day. Corrections aren't counted against that cap.
Studying

There is no daily limit on study stars - study as much as you like. Correct answers and sentences add up across all your languages over the study day, so 8 correct answers in Spanish and 7 in French still make a star. The focus timer adds to whatever you study while it runs.

You can do both in Settings - Account. Changing them again later doesn't earn more stars, and removing your photo doesn't take them away.
Feedback
Sending feedback earns 5 stars, for up to 3 submissions a day. Bug reports are genuinely useful, so they're rewarded like contributions.
Losing stars
Stars are removed when the action that earned them is reversed - setting a public deck back to private, or an upvote being withdrawn. Deleting a deck or comment removes the stars it had earned.
What stars are not
Stars count how much you practice, not how well. A correct answer earns the same whether it took one try or five, and a wrong answer never costs you anything.
Earning more
- One good deck beats twenty empty ones. A well-made deck saved by ten learners is 100 stars.
- Answer questions. Accepted answers and corrections are the highest-value single actions available.
- Study a little every day. Practice and reading pay as you go, and your streak adds bonuses on top.
