Download all your data
You can download everything in your Yalango account as a single zip file. Use it to keep a backup, move your learning to another app, or hand your word lists to an AI assistant.
Go to Settings -> Account and choose Request my data. Building the file happens on our servers, so you can leave the page and come back - large accounts take a few minutes. When it's ready, a download link appears in the same place.
The link works for 7 days, after which the file is deleted. You can request a new export at any time, up to three per day.
What's included
Everything you own, not just your decks:
- Decks and all their cards, including custom fields
- Your vocabulary, with review levels and next review dates
- Tables, with every column and row
- Notebooks, including sections and pages
- Folders, imported texts and your PDF list
- Forum posts, replies and corrections
- Study history, reading logs and statistics
- Your profile and settings
If you're a Premium subscriber and have uploaded PDFs or notebook images, you can choose whether to include the files themselves. They're listed in the export either way, and leaving them out makes for a much smaller download.
What the file looks like
Unzip it and you'll find:
- csv/decks/ - one spreadsheet per deck, which opens in Excel, Numbers or Google Sheets
- json/ - the complete data, one file per area, for anything a spreadsheet can't represent
- README.txt - a description of every file
- manifest.json - when the export was made and how many rows each file holds
Dates are written in ISO 8601 format in UTC, so they sort correctly and mean the same thing everywhere.
You may also see a file called _orphaned.json alongside a matching CSV. These are cards whose deck is no longer available. They're still your cards and still count towards your vocabulary, so they're included rather than left out.
Exporting a single deck instead
If you only want one deck, you don't need a full export. Open the deck and choose Export for CSV or a printable PDF. See Export your deck.
