Study a whole folder

If you keep your material in folders, you can practice a whole folder at once instead of opening each deck in turn.

Starting a folder session

On the Study dashboard, open the content picker - Browse all items - and navigate to the folder you want. Folders offer Play everything in {folder}, described as mixed cards from the decks inside it.

Cards from all the decks in that folder are shuffled together into a single game.

When this is the right choice

Folder sessions are about scope, where your daily session is about timing:

  • Use a folder session when you want to revise a specific unit - a textbook chapter before a lesson, or a set of decks before a test.
  • Use today's session for regular maintenance, since it draws on the schedule across everything you're learning.

For exam-style cramming a folder session is exactly right. For long-term retention, the daily session is what does the work.

Getting the most out of it

  • Keep folders meaningful. A folder per chapter or per topic gives you useful sessions; a folder called "stuff" doesn't.
  • Mix content types deliberately. Only decks contribute cards to a folder session - tables are played separately, and texts and notebooks are reading material.
  • Answers still count. A folder session updates your vocabulary levels, your daily goal and your streak like any other game, so it's never "wasted" practice.
