Fix your recent mistakes
Alongside your daily session, the Study dashboard offers a session built only from your recent errors: Fix your recent mistakes.
What counts as a mistake
Any item you answered wrong in a game within the last 30 days. Mistakes are recorded automatically across the deck games - flashcards, quiz, write, audio and the rest - so there's nothing to mark up yourself.
A mistake stops counting as outstanding once you answer that same word pair correctly again. In other words, the list clears itself as you fix things rather than needing to be emptied by hand.
How it differs from your daily session
Both sessions pull from your vocabulary, but they answer different questions:
- Start today's session asks "what is the schedule telling me to review?"
- Fix your recent mistakes asks "what have I recently got wrong, regardless of schedule?"
An item can be well inside its waiting period and still turn up here, which makes this a good follow-up right after a session that went badly.
Running it
The dashboard card shows Fix your {n} recent mistakes when you have any, with a Review link. It plays as a Mix session of about 10 items.
When you're clear, the card reads No mistakes to fix - nice work!
Using it well
Mistakes are a signal about your cards, not just your memory. If the same word shows up here repeatedly:
- Check whether the card has more than one plausible answer. Writing exercises are unforgiving about synonyms.
- Consider splitting a card with several meanings into separate cards.
- Add an example sentence so the word has some context to hang on.
Rewriting one bad card is usually worth more than ten more attempts at it.
