The Drive game

Drive a little 3D car down a three-lane road and steer into the sign with the right translation.

Drive turns a quiz into a road trip. A word appears at the top of the screen. Then a gantry with three road signs comes towards you, one sign per lane, and you steer into the lane whose sign has the right translation.

How to play

  • Steer with ← / → (or A / D), or tap the left, middle or right part of the road. On a phone you can also swipe left or right.
  • Jump straight to a lane with 1, 2 or 3, or by tapping one of the three answer buttons at the bottom. They show the same words as the signs, in a size that's easy to read.
  • Your answer is the lane you're in when the signs reach the car. The road moves at a steady pace, so there's always time to read all three.
  • Press Don't know (or s / 0) to skip. The car hurries to the signs and shows you the answer.

If you're right, you drive through the sign and it bursts into confetti. If you're wrong, the car bumps the sign, stops, and the right answer lights up green. Take a look, then press Continue (or tap anywhere, or press Space) to drive on.

You need at least 3 cards to play, since every gantry needs three different answers.

Settings

  • Show first works like it does in the Quiz: the prompt can be the target word or the translation, or a random mix.
  • Sound effects can be turned off with the speaker button in the top-right corner. Word audio still plays as in the other games.
  • The scenery follows your theme: a sunny day in light mode, and a night drive with street lamps and headlights in dark mode.

Drive needs WebGL, which almost every modern browser supports. If it's turned off, the game tells you and you can pick another one.

Do answers count?

Yes. Every gantry is recorded like a quiz answer and updates your vocabulary levels, your daily goal and your streak.
