Comment sections can be sorted by most recent or highest rated.
Voting
Upvote and downvote buttons appear on public decks, tables, help articles, videos, and on individual comments. The score you see is upvotes minus downvotes.
What votes actually do
Votes aren't decoration - they change what other learners find:
- The Explore directory sorts decks by score by default.
- Starter decks suggested on language pages are ordered by score.
- Comment sections can be sorted by rating.
So downvoting a deck with bad translations genuinely helps the next person, and upvoting a good one is the cheapest contribution you can make.
Votes earn stars for the author
- A deck upvote earns its author 3 stars.
- A comment upvote earns its author 1 star.
Removing a vote removes the stars again.
Authors get a notification when their content is upvoted or commented on, and can choose whether those also arrive by email in notification settings.
Reporting instead of downvoting
Downvotes are for content that isn't useful. For content that breaks the rules - spam, harassment, hate speech - use reporting instead, so a human looks at it.
