Manage your vocabulary items
Search, filter and sort your vocabulary, then use statuses - active, learnt, paused or deleted - to control what comes back for review.
Switch to the Browse tab on My Vocabulary to work through your list in detail.
Finding items
- Search matches exactly on the target or source side, so it's best for looking up a specific word rather than browsing loosely.
- Sort by Recent, Best or Worst. Worst is the interesting one - it surfaces the items dragging your accuracy down.
- Level filters jump to everything at a given level, from L0 to L8, plus Mature.
- Status tabs switch between All, Active, Learnt, Paused and Deleted, each with a count.
You can show 25, 50 or 100 items per page.
The four statuses
Statuses are how you tell Yalango what to stop asking you about.
- Active - in normal rotation. This is the default.
- Learnt - you know it and don't want it reviewed again. Removed from the queue and from your level counts.
- Paused - temporarily out of rotation. Use this for a word you've decided to deal with later rather than one you've mastered.
- Deleted - hidden from everything, but recoverable. Deleting a vocabulary item does not delete the card it came from.
Learnt and Paused both stop reviews; the difference is what you mean by it, which matters when you come back in six months and wonder why a word never appears.
Changing many at once
In Browse, select the items you want, then use the bulk bar at the bottom: choose a status under Set status to and choose Apply to selected.
This is the fastest fix after saving a large public deck. Filter to the words you already know, select them, and set them to Learnt - your review queue immediately becomes about the words you actually need.
Restoring something
Deleted items stay in the Deleted filter, where each has a Restore button. Nothing is permanently lost by deleting a vocabulary item.
What this doesn't change
Vocabulary statuses only affect reviews. Your decks and cards are untouched - to change the card itself, open its deck and edit the card.
