Import an EPUB book

Premium accounts can import an .epub book and read it chapter by chapter with tap-to-translate and study mode.

By YalangoUpdated September 16, 2026

Books let you read a whole novel in your target language inside Yalango, one chapter at a time, with the same tap-to-translate and word saving you get on texts. This is a Premium feature.

Importing one

  1. Open My Library and choose Create.
  2. Under Import Content, choose Book.
  3. Pick an .epub file from your device - up to 50 MB.
  4. Check the title, author and language Yalango read from the file, then start the import.

Your book is read in the browser and only its text is sent to Yalango, so the file itself never leaves your device. Large books take a moment - keep the tab open until the import finishes.

Imported books are private and only visible to you.

Reading a book

Open the book from your library to start reading. The reader works exactly like sentence-by-sentence study mode: tap any word to translate it, save it to a deck, or mark it as known.

  • Reaching the end of a chapter moves you straight into the next one.
  • The chapter list on the start screen lets you jump anywhere in the book.
  • Yalango remembers the chapter and sentence you stopped at, so you can pick up where you left off.

Good to know

  • Only .epub files work. A PDF book has to be uploaded as a PDF instead, which has no translation or study mode.
  • Images, footnotes and layout are left out - a book is imported as plain reading text.
  • Deleting a book from your library removes all of its pages and frees up a slot for another import.
