Upload and use PDFs

PDF uploads let you keep worksheets, textbook scans and handouts alongside the rest of your study material. This is a Premium feature.

Uploading

From My Library, choose Create, then PDF under Import Content. You can also upload from a PDF block while editing a notebook.

• Drag and drop a file, or click to browse.
• Maximum 20 MB per file.
• PDF files only.
• Give it a Display Name.

PDFs are private and only visible to you.

On the free plan the upload dialog explains that PDF uploads are a premium feature and links to pricing.

Where PDFs can be used

• In your library, as standalone items. Filter the library by PDFs to see them all.
• In notebooks, as a PDF block - so a chapter's worksheet can sit in the same page as your notes on it.

Working with them

PDFs are for reading and reference. Unlike texts, a PDF's contents aren't split into sentences, so there's no tap-to-translate or sentence-by-sentence study mode for them.

If you want to study the language in a PDF properly, copy the passage out and import it as a text. You'll get translation, word saving and study mode, and you can keep the original PDF in the same notebook for reference.

In printed notebooks

When you export a notebook to PDF, embedded PDF blocks print as a labelled reference rather than having their pages inlined.
