How it works

Watch, translate and save - without leaving the player

Open any video from Yalango's curated library or paste a YouTube URL of your own. A translate panel opens beside the player so you can look up words without leaving the video.

Type any word or phrase you heard in the video and Yalango translates it instantly. Add it to your list, then save the queued words into a spaced-repetition flashcard deck. Your watch progress is tied to that video so you can resume later exactly where you stopped.

Any video, any style

Three tools built for active watching

Passive watching is comfortable but slow. The Yalango side panel keeps you active without breaking the flow of the video.

Translate tab

Type any word or phrase from the video and get an instant translation between your source and target language. Every translation is timestamped so you know exactly when you heard it.

Save to deck

Add translations to a short list while you watch, then save them to a spaced-repetition flashcard deck when you are ready so you review them at the right time.

Timestamped Notes

Write notes while the video is playing and insert the current timestamp with one click. Copy your whole session to paste into your notebook or share with your tutor.

Library

A curated library - or bring your own video

Yalango maintains a growing library of YouTube videos organised by language, channel and duration. Can't find what you want? Paste any YouTube link and it opens instantly with the full side panel.

Filter by language, channel and duration

Pick your target language and see videos from verified language channels. Filter by duration - short clips for a 5-minute break or full lessons for a focused session.

Paste any YouTube URL

Not in the library? Paste the URL or video ID into the import field. Yalango saves it to your account so you can return to it and resume where you left off.

Your personal watch list

Imported videos appear in your own watch list. Mark them as watched, track your progress, and build a learning queue from channels you already follow.

Build a habit

Turn your YouTube habit into a study habit

You already watch YouTube every day. Yalango Watch slots into that habit and makes every session count - without making it feel like extra work.

  • Resume exactly where you stopped - watch progress is saved per video so you never lose your place mid-lesson.
  • Mark videos as watched so your queue stays tidy and you can tell at a glance what you have already covered.
  • Paste any YouTube URL and Yalango opens it with the translate panel beside the player - no curated list required.
  • Build a vocabulary deck from every video you watch - one tap per word adds it to spaced-repetition review.
  • Browse the curated library by language, channel and duration - short clips for a 5-minute break, longer lessons for a deep session.
  • Track your saved words and watch history in one place so you can see real, measurable progress over time.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is Yalango Watch?

Yalango Watch is a YouTube-integrated language learning tool. You open any video - from our curated library or by pasting your own URL - and a side panel lets you translate words, queue them, and save them to a flashcard deck right beside the player.

Is Yalango Watch free?

Yes. The core Watch experience - translate, save words to decks, watch history and resume progress - is free on every Yalango account. No credit card needed.

Do I need subtitles on the video to use it?

No. The translate panel is a free-text box, not subtitle-based. Just type any word or phrase you heard and Yalango translates it instantly. It works with any video regardless of whether subtitles are available.

Can I watch my own YouTube videos, not just the curated list?

Yes. Paste any YouTube URL or video ID into the import field on the Watch page and Yalango opens it in the Watch player with the full side panel. Your imported videos are saved to your account so you can resume them later.

Which languages are supported?

Yalango supports over 180 languages for translation. You set your source and target language in your profile and every translation in Watch flows between those two languages automatically.

How does saving words to a flashcard deck work?

When you translate a word, add it to your list. When you are ready, choose a deck and save the queued words in one go. From there, spaced-repetition scheduling decides when you review them next - just like Anki, but built into the same app you watch with.
