Mandarin Chinese tools

Yalango includes two free tools for Mandarin Chinese. Find them on Language Tools or under Useful tools for studying Mandarin Chinese on the Mandarin learn page.

Hanzi Practice

Open Hanzi Practice.

1. Type one or more characters in Character(s) to practice (examples like 大, 人, or 你好 work well).
2. Choose Practice.
3. Watch the stroke animation first, then draw the character yourself.
4. After you finish, you will see Nice! or Keep practicing!
5. Use Try Again to redraw the same character, or New Character to pick another.

This is for stroke order practice - it does not replace studying vocabulary in a deck. For character quizzes inside a deck, see the Hanzi game.

Hanzi to Pinyin Converter

Open Hanzi to Pinyin.

1. Paste or type text into Chinese text.
2. Pinyin appears automatically in the Pinyin output (after a short pause while it converts).
3. Choose Clear when you want a blank slate.

Use it when you need a quick reading for a word or sentence before you add it to a deck or look it up while reading a text.
